Congratulations!

Through the BigSEE award, Zavod Big (an independent non-profit organization) aims to systematically explore the creative and business potential of the Southeast European region. It points to unique achievements not only in architecture, but also, for example, in interior design and tourism. Other awarded categories are product design, fashion design and wood design. We are very happy that this year’s winner of the BigSEE Architecture Award 2020 category was the new exhibition project at the Museum of the Czech Paradise in Turnov, in which we participated.

’On September 7, 2019, a new mountaineering exhibition was opened in the Museum of the Czech Paradise in Turnov. The creation of the new exhibition required the revitalization of the museum building dated from 1974, which was originally built to exhibit the largest oil painting in Central Europe. The 8.5 × 10 m canvas was preserved and became part of the mountaineering display. The exhibition evokes a mountain landscape for visitors, introducing visitors to the development and important milestones of mountaineering. There are many interactive elements, historic photos and original climbing equipment in the exhibition.

The first permanent exhibition of mountaineering in the Czech Republic was dedicated, among other things, to sandstone climbing, which has deep roots in the Bohemian Paradise region. In terms of scope, this is the largest project that the Museum of the Czech Paradise has carried out in its 130-year history.’
