The film world was looking for a solution to bring viewers a visual experience for reasonable money. Thanks to the development of technology, they have found the concept of extended reality and refer to it using the abbreviation XR.
You may know the Mandalorian series from the Star Wars saga, filmed using XR technology by Disney. Thanks to the use of XR technology, Disney was able to create a work visually comparable to the big-budget Star Wars series by George Lucas at relatively good costs.
The pandemic began, which brought the end of conventional events as we knew them. However, AV MEDIA EVENTS still wanted to continue providing full-fledged services to its customers. That’s why we built a network of studios that allowed us to keep the events running, even though in the online environment. We were offering these studios to customers all year, but we knew we wanted to surprise them with something unique. So we decided to take inspiration from the film industry and launched the expensive XR project to expand the offer for our customers.
THE TECHNOLOGICAL DEFINITION OF THE IDEAL XR STUDIO CONSISTS OF THESE COMPONENTS:
- Corner LED wall including high-resolution LED floor measuring 7×7×5 metres
- 2 to 3 cameras with tracking – camera tracking system in 3D space
- Graphic server that generates an image for the LED wall depending on the position of the camera in the room
These are the 3 basic components that global companies supplement with a number of other technologies. The LED wall can be replaced with a green chroma key background, camera tracking is done with one of the available tools, and the graphic server is chosen by users based on their needs or economic aspects. All these combinations are often not completely covered by the XR concept, but that does not matter at all, the important thing is the benefit for clients.
AV MEDIA EVENTS can deliver a true XR solution; however, we evaluated it as very expensive for our customers, and therefore we chose an approach that would provide the required shift to 3D, but at the same time would offer reasonable prices.
