In the Central Bohemian Region, people can already use eight police stations without police officers. Inside the rooms there is only a desk, a chair, a screen and a camera.

And thanks to technology, citizens can connect with the police remotely. Modern police contact points are called Pol Points and have been created as a joint project of the Czech Police and the companies AV MEDIA, ALEF and Cisco.

Since February this year the project has been in “trial operation”; eight of these new contact points for citizens have been built, namely in Karlštejn, Přerov nad Labem, Čechtice, Rudná, Lysá nad Labem, Zruč nad Sázavou, Sedlec - Prčice and Lány.  People can use them similarly to conventional police stations. For example, they can quickly make various announcements via the screen. Instead of talking face to face, they talk remotely with a police officer sitting in a control room in another city.

”We are able to effectively record the testimony from the contact point and continue to work on it. You do not have to sign anything, we only work with the recording. It creates gives us in the given locations for police officers on duty, who do not have to wait in one place, but can be useful in the field instead,” says Brigadier General Václav Kučera, Director of the Regional Police Directorate of the Central Bohemian Region.

Modern police contact points are the first example of citizens being able to fully communicate with state administration bodies without direct contact, safely, easily, quickly and essentially from anywhere. Pol Points are currently being prepared to involve interpreters from foreign languages, as well as sign language interpreters.

”We are creating a system where, for example, at the request of the person being interrogated, we can connect the relevant interpreter online and conduct the interrogation at the given location,” Brigadier General Václav Kučera, Director of the Regional Police Directorate of the Central Bohemian Region, reveals further upcoming plans.
