The end of the school year saw the national finals of the VEX IQ Challenge robotics competition at the premises of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics in Dejvice, Prague. On Thursday, June 23, 2022, teams of elementary-school students competed there.

The competition taking place in the 2021/2022 school year had the subtitle Pitching In. The teams’ task was to design, build and programme a robot from the VEX IQ kit to clear the balls from the starting cages, place them in the goals and hang the robot on one of the poles in the playing field at the end of the match. The competition is divided into two parts: Teamwork for two teams, i.e. two robots must work together to score as many points as possible together. The Robot Skills Challenge is intended for one team which has to manually control the robot with a remote control in the first round; but they also must demonstrate an autonomously programmed robot in the second round.

The Team Cooperation Challenge was won by the teams Sromorobots from the Elementary School and Kindergarten at the Šromotovo Square in Hranice and Robokidi2 from the Elementary School and School of Arts at the Bezdrevská Street in České Budějovice.

Sromorobots from the Elementary School and Kindergarten at the Šromotovo Square in Hranice also won the Robot Skills Challenge easily.

The jury prize was handed over to the Evil Tigers team from the Elementary School on the Šafaříkova Street in Valašské Meziříčí. The prizes for an original robot design went to Tatranky from the Elementary School on the Lidická Street in Hrádek nad Nisou and the Skilled Team from the Robotics Centre in Plzeň.
