The award ceremony of the 18th year took place in the Municipal House in Prague… this time online

The award ceremony of the Gloria Musaealis National Competition took place on October 6. Due to the current situation, the award ceremony had no spectators on site, only with the participation of the nominated institutions. In cooperation with the Association of Museums and Galleries, we arranged an online broadcast. You can watch a video of this broadcast below

The event was held under the auspices of Hana Třeštíková, Councillor of the Capital City of Prague for culture, heritage preservation, exhibitions and tourism.
The partners of the ceremony were the Municipal House, National Museum, Capital City of Prague, Czech Radio, AV Media, a.s., and Three Brothers Production.
The main media partner of the ceremony was Czech Television.
The media partners of the event were Czech Radio Two and the internet portal and magazine PROPAMÁTKY

The following museums were nominated in the three main categories:

2019 Museum Achievement of the Year
This category evaluated activities of museums, the result of which was a significant or long-term improvement in the quality of collection-building activities, completed
in the period of January 01, 2019 to February 28, 2020. 17 projects competed in this category.
The following institutions were nominated:
• Brno City Museum (“Baron Trenck: The New Face of the Legend”)
• Municipal Museum and Gallery in Hořice (“Reconstruction of the Museum and New Exhibition From Stone to Statue”)
• National Museum of Agriculture (“Modernization of the Site in Valtice and New Exhibition”)
• Museum of the Czech Paradise in Turnov (“Mountaineering: From the Czech Paradise to the Peaks of the World”)

The winner of this category was the Museum of the Czech Paradise in Turnov (“Mountaineering: From the Czech Paradise to the Peaks of the World”). ‘In AV MEDIA, a.s. we are very happy that we were able to participate in the preparation of this exhibition. 

               

2019 Museum Exhibition of the Year
The category was announced for permanent exhibition displays or exhibitions using museum collections, open to the public
from January 01, 2019 to February 28, 2020. 40 submitted projects competed in this category.
The following institutions were nominated:
• Technical Museum in Brno (“In Difficult Times: Fight for Borders (1918–1919)”)
• South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice (“New Museum Exhibitions”)
• Aleš Hrdlička Museum (“Anthropological Exhibition”)
• Prague City Museum (“Poor Prague: People – Places – Institutions (1781–1948) / EPOS 257: Smoky Mountain”)
• National Gallery in Prague (“1796–1918: The Art of a Long Century”)
• Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague (“The Mad Silkweaver: Zika and Lída Asher / Textiles and Fashion”)

The winner of this category is the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice (“New Museum Exhibitions”). 


2019 Museum Publication of the Year
Publications thematically based on museum collections or scientific research activities of museums could be entered into the category
if they were published between January 01, 2019 and February 28, 2020. 30 competing projects were entered into this category.
The following institutions were nominated:
• Brno City Museum (“Vision of Modernity: Rudolf Sandalo 1899–1980”)
• Olomouc Art Museum (“Charles of Lichtenstein-Castelcorn (1624–1695)”)
• National Technical Museum (“Ringhoffer Phenomenon: Family, Business, Politics”)
• Skuteč City Museum (“Soldiers of the Skuteč Region 1914–1920”)

The winner of this category is the Olomouc Art Museum (“Charles of Lichtenstein-Castelcorn (1624–1695)”)
