The Municipal House is an iconic Art Nouveau landmark and one of the most important cultural and social venues in Prague. Built between 1905 and 1912 by architects Antonín Balšánek and Osvald Polívka, this architectural gem stands as a symbol of elegance, culture, and Czech statehood. It was here that the independence of Czechoslovakia was proclaimed in 1918.
The building’s main feature is the Smetana Hall, a monumental concert and event space that seats up to 1,200 guests in theatre setup and around 700 guests for receptions or gala events. Covering an area of 541 square meters, it boasts exceptional acoustics and includes its own stage, balcony, and orchestra facilities.
Additional refined spaces such as the Sladkovský Hall, the Rieger Hall, and the Palacký Hall offer capacities ranging from 80 to 250 guests. All halls are connected by spacious foyers and complemented by café facilities. The Municipal House blends the grandeur of historic architecture with modern comfort, making it an ideal venue for prestigious cultural and social events.
