Museum of Needlework in Vamberk
Interactivity in museums enhances their attractiveness for visitors.
The needlework museum offers its visitors a unique exposition narrating the story of Czech needlework from the 18th century to our times.
THE IDEA OF EXPOSITION AND ITS SUBSEQUENT IMPLEMENTATION

We have spent years with the Vamberk needlework and its exposition. We were present when the idea of a new exposition was conceived in 2009, we assisted in project definition involving a request for subsidy and, finally, we have succeeded in the implementation tender. The architectural design is the work of the architect David Vávra.
The art of needlework is presented predominantly in a classic way, outlined chronologically from the oldest examples up to the present, with certain significant milestones stressed. For the most part, modern presentation opportunities are used in the interactive workshop/playroom, with the intention to make the visitors more familiar with the needlework job, with using bobbins, with the composing of patterns, etc.
THE LIGHTING OF EXHIBITS UNDERLINES THEIR BEAUTY AND CREATES AN AGREEABLE ATMOSPHERE
The exposition itself is located on three floors of the museum. All the exhibits, from old laces and applied needlework (dresses, handbags, hats) all the way to works of art presented at global EXPOs, as well as contemporary works, have been installed into atypical display cases along the perimeter of exhibition rooms on individual floors, with dominating soft shapes (curves) with the interior in light umber. The space, in which an important role is played by lighting on the exhibits, works highly elegantly.
WHEN YOU SAY AV
The exposition also includes a similarly gracious “Charm of the Moment” AV cycle displayed on a screen located inside the central exhibition case on the second floor, accompanied by music from a directional speaker. The museum also contains information “kiosks” providing various databases and an AV lounge with a projection of the “When you Say Needlework” film.
MUZEUM A GALERIE ORLICKÝCH HOR
The Museum of Needlework is located at the lower part of the square, facing the St. Procopius Church. The visitors are offered its exposition focused on development of Czech needlework from the 18th century. Laces made using bobbins are presented in its major part, but also those prepared in other ways are exhibited. The exposition contains pieces of art that represented Czechoslovakia at the EXPOs in Brussels 1958 and Montreal 1967. THE NEEDLEWORK FROM VAMBERK MEANS: 400 years of tradition, a company of 60 years, hand made professional products, unique know-how, exquisite artistic value, top design, contemporary trends in fashion.
