Emergency Medical Service of the Pardubice Region
Life never stops at the Pardubice Region Emergency Medical Services Operations Center. Work here continues around the clock – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of holidays or night hours. Operators are available at all times to take calls on the 155 emergency line. Each call could mean saving a life – which is why their voices must be calm, decisive, and at the same time humane.
Every day, there is a continuous stream of events. Operators handle dozens of calls, guide frightened callers in providing first aid, calm them down, and at the same time gather accurate information. They find out where the patient is, what symptoms they have, whether they are conscious and breathing. Each of their questions pieces together a picture that determines how quickly and what crew will respond to the emergency.
In the operations center, operators have access to an LED wall displaying a map of the entire Pardubice Region and surrounding areas. The map shows clear online icons for ambulances and helicopters, indicating who is currently in the field and which crew is closest to the patient. Thanks to this visualization, operators have an overview even when multiple events occur simultaneously—a serious traffic accident, a heart attack, or a child with burns. Everything happens at once, and the LED wall allows dozens of interventions to be coordinated efficiently, without wasting precious minutes.
Every shift is different, but they all have one thing in common – there is no room for error at work. Operators dispatch ambulances from eighteen bases, a total of over thirty vehicles, and handle approximately 150 incidents daily. In the event of emergencies such as mass accidents, fires, or natural disasters, they activate contingency plans and cooperate with the fire department, police, and air rescue service.
The daily rhythm of the emergency services is the rhythm of human stories. Behind every flashing icon on the LED wall is a specific person waiting for someone to arrive as soon as possible. The LED wall never goes out because hope must be available day and night.
