Vorlina Elementary School Modernization Project

During the 2024/2025 school year, Vorlina Elementary School in Vlašim underwent a major modernization of four classrooms as part of the IROP project with the aim of creating an educational environment that corresponds to current pedagogical trends and technological possibilities. The project is an example of the successful transformation of outdated spaces into flexible and modern classrooms that support the active involvement of students, especially in working with technology.

Project motivation and objectives

The main impetus for the renovation was the need to adapt the school environment to current educational needs. The school management decided to focus on the most outdated classrooms and expand their functionality. The goal was not only to replace the furniture, but to create multifunctional spaces that stimulate creativity and collaboration and enable the use of various technologies.

Key changes and their benefits

The renovation brought several significant improvements that should have a positive impact on the quality of teaching:

  • Multifunctional classrooms: The original computer, music, and art classrooms have been converted into flexible spaces. This allows them to be used not only for core subjects, but also for teaching foreign languages and other disciplines, thus maximizing their use.
  • Modern chemistry laboratory: The chemistry classroom has been equipped with new laboratory furniture and modern technology (Pasco measurement kits). This allows students to conduct experiments in a safer and more attractive way, which we hope will encourage their interest in science. Ensuring accessibility: The completion of the elevators is a key step towards making the school fully accessible and ensuring equal access to education for all students.
  • Use of modern technologies: The computer classroom is equipped with a Robotel language lab, and the multifunctional classrooms offer large-format printing and the use of 3D glasses for virtual reality. All classrooms are equipped with Smartboard interactive displays, visualizers, and laptops for each student.

Impact on students and teachers

The introduction of new technologies, such as interactive displays and modern laboratories, was met with an immediate positive response from students. The teaching staff is gradually familiarizing themselves with the new equipment, and some teachers are already actively integrating it into their lessons. The school is aware that the key to fully exploiting the potential of new technologies is adequate training and time to break down any barriers. Open days are planned for parents and the wider public, where they will be able to view the new premises.

Experience from implementation

The biggest challenge of the project was coordinating all construction and supplier activities. Successful completion was possible thanks to several key factors:

  • Active support from the founder: The initiative, commissioning, construction supervision, and project management provided by the City of Vlašim were essential to the project.
  • Effective communication: Regular communication between the school management, the founder, and individual suppliers ensured smooth progress and quick resolution of problems and discrepancies.
  • Reliable partners: The school appreciates the cooperation with all companies involved in the implementation of the project. At AV MEDIA, we particularly appreciate their helpfulness and professional communication (especially the possibility of consultations and various recommendations regarding the school's existing infrastructure).

Recommendations for other schools

Based on its experience, Vorlina Elementary School recommends that schools and founders considering similar modernization projects emphasize active cooperation and support from the founder. Equally important is the precise formulation of project goals and, above all, open and regular communication between all partners throughout the entire process.
